Spanish Guitar Concert
with Artist Javier Castellote
Show held November 18, 2010 Thursday

Born in Bogota, Colombia, guitarist Javier Castellote discovered his interest in the musical arts at an early age. Influenced originally by American and British rock and roll, Javier ultimately found refuge in the intimate sounds of acoustic classical guitar; an instrument which is present in various folkloric genres in Spain and Latin America.
Javier is influenced by many genres of music, but particularly enjoys the music of composers such as Toru Takemitsu, Claude Debussy, and lS. Bach. He is also very interested in the freedom and power of improvisation. Currently Javier resides in Omaha, Nebraska with his wife Mandy. He is starting his own guitar studio and wishes to perform actively to enhance the appreciation for classical guitar in the Midwest.
